We are at war (a call for direct action against the war)
some milwaukee anarchists, 15-03-2008 - 10:07

For five years the cross-hairs of empire have been on Iraq and Afghanistan. In five years we’ve seen enormous demonstrations, protests, and rallies all over the world, yet still war rages. For five years we’ve heard the promises of politicians and ideologues. They were swept into power with anti-war rhetoric, yet still war rages. What do we expect with five more years of the same?

15,000 Demonstrators Demand Closing of School of Americas
John Tarleton [reprint from nyc indy], 23-11-2007 - 12:07

Arriving at the gate, marchers attached crosses, photos, flowers and hand-written messages to an eight-foot high chain-link fence topped with three lines of barb wire. Before leaving, I tore a page out of my reporter’s notebook, wrote the name of an old friend— “Bradley Roland Will, 36, Indymedia”—rolled up the piece of paper and wedged it into the chain-link fence between three small white crosses that bore the names “Jesus de Antonio Garcia, Colombia”, “Israel Marquez, 80, El Mazote” and “34-year-old pregnant woman, El Salvador.”

Manitowoc County residents mobilize to save Health Care Center
Bryan G. Pfeifer, 13-11-2007 - 08:48

Another reason why the opposition opposes the Health Dimensions Group
or any other for-profit is in regard to "flipping." This is where
"groups" or "consortiums" made up of investment bankers, insurance
interests etc. buy up companies or places like the HCC for fire sale
prices then turn around and make as much profit as possible by
stripping the center down to bare essentials, and busting the union
etc. Many times after most of the profit is made the company moves on
by selling or going bankrupt leaving a hollowed-out shell of what used
to be and leaving whole communities economically and socially
devastated for years to come. Witness the auto industry.

New Milwaukee Group Formed Against The RNC in 2008
a herd of kittens, 05-09-2007 - 09:15

MKEtoRNC, a group of Milwaukee anarchists and anti-authoritarians has formed with the intention of inspiring and creating a space for the organization of direct action against the RNC in 2008. Individuals in the group recently attended the pReNC in Minneapolis, hosted by the Jack Pine Community Center and organized by the RNC Welcoming Committee. At the pReNC anarchists and anti-authoritarians hung out, informally networked, and formally networked, had meetings, workshops, and skillshares, shared information, food and a passion to carry on resistance against the spectacle of a false choice imposed on everyones lives in the form of the elections, for a world of our own determination. A false opposition (the DNC) may deserve even more actual opposition, but the RNC has excited a certain frustration and tension in people that we would like to take advantage of in order to push for a collective break from this miserable circus.

Milwaukee cops found guilty in Jude case
Bryan G. Pfeifer, 04-08-2007 - 01:55

Frank Jude Jr. and supporters after verdict July 27 The Jude verdict in the federal case is a partial victory for poor and working people, particularly people of color, in Milwaukee and nationally. This victory didn’t result, however, from any love for the people on the part of the racist oppressors...the justice that has been won thus far is due mostly to the struggle put up by the Black community in coalitions such as Justice for Jude Justice for All!, to demand justice for Jude and all victims of police terror.

All Charges Dropped Against Remaining MKE 21
a herd of kittens, 18-07-2007 - 19:37

All of the charges have been dropped for people who were arrested and rounded up on March 19th the anniversary of the start of the current Iraq war after a militant anti-war march ended at the recruiting center with broken windows. Those who didn't plead no contest, and haven't defaulted to guilty verdicts by not showing up to court or turning in the necessary paper work have all had their charges dismissed. No one has been found guilty.

Thanks should go out to all who have supported these individuals emotionally and otherwise.
